What once was a technology from Sci-Fi movies now is becoming a reality: software сapable of tracking your every move by spotting your face in a crowd in order to store this information in a vast Government database, that is. Those implementing the technology say it is needed for greater security and safety. On the Federal Bureau of Investigation official web-site the whole initiative is named as the mission of the Next Generation Identification (NGI). The program is aimed to reduce terrorist and criminal activities by improving the biometriс identification and criminal history information services trough research within the The Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, ( IAFIS), which is a national criminal history database maintained in the U.S. by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. RT’s Adriana Usero discusses whether this technology is the trend of the future.
